SUSTAINABLE Reusable drinking bottle ALTERNATIVES
A very common goodie bag item is a reusable water bottle. These on their own are already a very sustainable item as they promote reusing the same water bottle, as opposed to using and buying plastic, one-time use water bottles. However, they are only really sustainable if they are able to be used. If the person receiving the goodie bag already has a multiple of these reusable drinking bottles, they are simply just going to put them in their kitchen and never use them until they eventually throw them away – making it not a very sustainable item in the end.
Not adding a reusable drinking bottle is, therefore, a very sustainable alternative and can be substituted by actual consumable goods. More information on sustainable consumable goods that can be added in your goodie bags in general or as an alternative to a drinking bottle can be found here (link to page of consumable goods). If you still decide to add a drinking bottle to your tote bag, it is, therefore, still important to make sure it is made from sustainable materials and in sustainable ways. The following reusable drinking bottles are the perfect sustainable options that will make both your visitors and the planet happy: |
stainless steel drinking bottles
Stainless steel is a very durable material and is, therefore, a great type of reusable drinking bottle to offer to your clients or visitors. These bottles last a very long time and are great for keeping your beverages both hot and cold. The Belgian company Turtlee Green, which offers all sorts of sustainable products, has a great variety of stainless-steel drinking bottles. Additionally, this company donates to charities and good causes that support the cleaning of the oceans, adding onto the overall positive impact purchasing these bottles have. The bottles come in a bunch of different colors, so they are easily matched with your organization’s logo.

Another Belgian company offering a durable stainless steel drinking bottle is Bambaw! This is a BPA free drinking bottle that has a “double wall” insulation to ensure your drinks stay warm or cold, and comes in 4 different sizes. Additionally, this company aims at shipping its products in CO2 neutrality, meaning they monitor the CO2 emission of the shipment and create a sustainable supply chain around that, and with plastic-free packaging.

Glass drinking bottles
Glass is a much more sustainable material than plastic and is much easier to recycle once the product is at its end of life – making glass reusable drinking bottles a good sustainable option. The Dutch company Waterdrop produces a 600ml high-quality glass drinking bottle. They each come with a thermos cover, to help keep the drink warm or cold and to protect the bottle, and in multiple different colors. The bottle also has a bamboo cap, again reducing the plastic wasted and used for bottles.

When adding these reusable drinking bottles, it can be useful to add a note in the bag regarding the disposal of such bottles if need be. If, for example, the receiver of the bottle does not need another drinking bottle, link nearby thrift stores or schools where these new water bottles can be donated to for someone else to buy/use. Additionally, not customizing these bottles too much with your company logo is also beneficial to the receiver and will increase the likeliness of them using it and not just throwing it away – no one wants to walk around with an overly advertised drinking bottle.
